Charles Towne Landing and the Provost Dungeon.
Hey everyone! Our friend, Jonathan, was really nice to give us his “Tourist in your own Town” cards that get us in to lots of historical sites and plantations around town for free, and also great discounts at local restaurants. It expires in just a couple weeks so we have a lot of touring to do.
Today we went to Charles Towne Landing and the Provost Dungeon. Charles Towne Landing is where the settlers first landed and built their first settlement in 1670. Ten years later, the colony moved to the down town peninsula. We had a good time walking the 1.5 history trail.
Next, we went down town to the Provost Dungeon under The Old Exchange building. It was built in 1780, and over the years has been used to hold prisoners of the Revolutionary War, including signers of the Declaration of Independence, as well as pirates.
We have a lot more pictures of both places, but I decided it would be bad to post 50 pictures. Plus, you can come out and see it all for yourselves!
of course you pet the dog
i am looking forward to each touristy post!
your blog makes me want to visit South Carolina and such.
love it all.
