First 5K and Some Spoletto.

Jon and I realized our workout shoes were both more than ten years old so we went to the nike outlet and purchased some brand new shoes!! Aren’t they pretty?

I prefer gym classes to running so Jon got me some cross trainers that will be okay for both.

Running First 5K and Some Spoletto.

On Saturday we both ran in the ALS H.O.P.E. race together.  It was my first 5k, and I think I did alright considering I hardly ever run.  It was to benefit those with Lou Gehrig’s disease, and I also received some extra credit points for my anatomy class by signing up. Everybody wins! It was fun to do a race right on the beach, but it was hot! I came in at 36 minutes and Jon did it in 23 minutes.  This next spring we both want to do the bridge run which is a 10k that runs from Mt. Pleasant, over the bridge, and into downtown Charleston.  If we do that I’ll probably actually train because even just running 3.1 miles hurts my knees.  It should be fun, and the weather will be just right for running.

Running 3 First 5K and Some Spoletto.

Running 1 First 5K and Some Spoletto.

Running 2 First 5K and Some Spoletto. After the 5k, we raced home to get ready to go downtown to a Spoletto block party.  Every May Charleston holds the Spoletto festival, an arts festival that includes everything from music to theatre to dancing, etc.  The block party was held downtown at Marion Square and it did not disappoint.  They had fun live music, yummy food, and it was a free event. Can’t beat that.

Running 6 First 5K and Some Spoletto. My first funnel cake!

Running 8 First 5K and Some Spoletto.

Running 7 First 5K and Some Spoletto. With one of my best friends, Marie.

Running 5 First 5K and Some Spoletto.

Running 9 First 5K and Some Spoletto. I need to tell you guys about school, but I think I’m going to do an entirely different post about that.

And also, Jon finished part I of Boards this past weekend! It was the written portion that was pretty much a final comprehensive exam of every class he’s had for the last two years!!! He’s so relieved to have the test be over, and in about a month we’ll find out his score! I’m sure he passed because he always does well, but he likes to be humble about it and not set expectations. After the test on Friday we went out and celebrated with some friends by getting burgers at Chucktown Tavern followed by dessert on Market Street.

I hope you had a good weekend too!

Kat! Congrats on your first 5k! I’ve run 2 so far. I hate them but I kinda like them as well. I just wanted to say how much I love reading your blog. The pictures y’all take are absolutely gorgeous. Really gorgeous. And funnel cake’s gotta be my most favorite thing ever.
