Kayaking.
Yesterday we went kayaking with friends from school. We started out at Shem Creek and paddled out to the ocean.
This was my first time kayaking and I really enjoyed being right out on the water.
A long Shem Creek we saw a lot of wildlife and shrimping boats.
These birds were creeping around on the shrimp boats looking for food in the water.
This looks like a shark, but thank goodness it’s only a dolphin. We saw a lot of dolphins just swimming a long with our kayak tour. They were very friendly. One came up right by our kayak and spouted just for fun.
This sandbar was full of loud little birds. We accidentally got stuck in the sand here and a small wave crashed right into our kayak, but that was okay. The water felt good.
We went tandem, but we both did our fair share of paddling.
Okay, maybe Jon did a little more paddling than me, and then I accidentally drank all the water. I promise to be a better tandem partner next time.
Here is a little bit of downtown.
Then we stopped and took a break on this island. I don’t remember what it was called, but it was a fun detour.
Our guide showed us this Horseshoe crab. I had never seen anything like it before.
This is a giant rope of of baby crabs. Each of these compartments is full of hundreds of tiny baby crabs which grow up to look like the shell below. Jon and I both forgot the name though.
We went for a little dip. It felt so great on the hot day.
We had a fun time kayaking. You should all come out and go kayaking with us sometime.
