Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls.
Our last night of our trip to Asheville we spent camping at Orchard Lake. I guess everybody else had the same idea because the campground PACKED.
We were told it was going to be private, and it definitely wasn’t. We actually almost turned around when we saw it, but I’m glad we stayed. The grounds had a lot of fun stuff to do like zipline, kayak, horseshoe, golf, etc. So after we set up our tent we got away from everyone and played around.
We ziplined.
Then Jon tried to climb this ladder.
After climbing and ziplining we took to the water.
Horseshoe was next.
And you can’t camp without playing badminton!
When the sun went down we made our fire, and started on dinner. The food is always my favorite part about camping!
I spoiled my dinner and ate a few s’mores beforehand.
The we told scary stories while we waited for our meat to cook.
It was a fun night of camping even though it wasn’t what we were expecting at all. After dinner we watched movies on our laptop and fell soundly asleep.
The next morning we drove into Dupont State Park to do some hiking. They have several trails leading to waterfalls that we wanted to checkout.
This was triple falls.
On the way down from Triple Falls we met a guy hiking with his ferrets. He let me hold one, and it liked me.
Next we hiked up to Hooker Falls. It’s named after General Hooker, but we definitely let out a few giggles.
We were able to get in and the water was FREEZING!
Jon and I both swam up to touch the waterfall, but it was so hard! It was like we were in one of those Endless Pools used for swim training. No matter how hard I swam I stayed in one spot. Jon had to pull me the last couple feet.
On the way home from Asheville, we stopped in Columbia, SC to pick up our friend Marie. Her family’s house is right on the lake so we went for a dip.
We knew we were back in Charleston when we stopped at this gas station.
That was our fun 4th of July weekend up in the mountains! I’d love to go back. Asheville was such a neat town!
Today Jon had his white coat ceremony and I’m so proud of him! I will posting pictures of it soon.
