Leave Me Alone Mrs. Vanderbilt.

For the 4th of July weekend we decided to get out of town and head up to Asheville, North Carolina for some vacation fun!

I finished up my second anatomy test Friday (yay, I’m halfway done!) and then we hit the road at the very crack of dawn Saturday morning.  Here is a view of us crossing the bridge with the sun coming up,  A.K.A. proof that I got up that early.

It only took us about 4 hours to get to Asheville and we immediately visited the Biltmore.

Here is the dining hall.  You aren’t allowed to take pictures at the Biltmore, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t able to sneak some! I distracted the employee by asking her about the fireplace so Jon could take this picture.

Here is the view from the house.  It was so refreshing to see mountains and such a green landscape! I loved it.

A sassy statue.

This is the liiiiiiiiiibrrrrrrary. You have to say it like that when it consists of 23,000 books.

This was one of my favorite rooms. I wanted to climb the ladders and pull a Belle from Beauty and the Beast, but I refrained.

Here is a wall from the Halloween room.  It made me want a house with themed rooms for every holiday someday.  Just think, you’d never have to put away/put up decorations ever again! It would be efficient and fun! I could study in the Christmas room instead of at the table!

Not pictured from our tour: a zillion bedrooms all with gorgeous views. (The Biltmore has about 250 bedrooms and about 65 bathrooms.)

After we saw the house, we wandered the gardens. I thought this statue was sweet with the cute baby.

Jon picked me this flower.  Picking flowers probably wasn’t allowed so he got to show off his sweet and bad-boy side all in this one gesture. Good job, Jon.

Then we headed over to the farm for music and butter churning.  I even got to wear an awesome Blossom hat just like I’d always wanted! Jon was THRILLED to have this picture taken.

After the Biltmore we spent some time in down town Asheville.  It was such a fun city!

More to come….
