28, My Favorite Number.
It was Jon’s birthday on Saturday! He turned 28. My favorite two numbers. You can imagine how excited I am for him.
This pic is from Tuesday when we went out with some friends to Mellow Mushroom for Trivia, Jon’s birthday, and to use up our groupons that were about to expire. Haha. We got ourselves a huge pizza and then took home the leftovers to eat all week. Nomnomnomonom.
On Jon’s actual birthday, we just took it easy. Jon doesn’t like to make a big deal out of birthdays, and he always puts his birthday money towards travel (this year he’s putting it towards Uganda, where we are going on a mission trip over December! More on that later). So Jon isn’t big on gifts or cake even, so his birthdays are easy around here.
So for Jon’s big 28, he went surfing first thing with some of the guys, then that night we made manicotti with homemade sauce, watched movies, took pictures, and ate ice cream cake.
I surprised Jon with an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins! I told him I had a surprise for him all week and I totally got him. Jon’s first dessert choice is always ice cream so this cake was perfect. It was chocolate chip with chocolate cake. Yum. And when we went to pick it up, I got a bubble gum ice cream cone that we ended up sharing. It hit the spot. Best birthday ever!
While we were waiting for the manicotti to cook, we took pictures of ourselves for documentation of what we looked like when Jon turned 28. Just kidding, we did it cause we’re weird and we like taking pictures of each other.
So, we took these pictures with the lights off, and then it would be surprise what the person was doing when the flash went off. We only gave each other 3 seconds in between pictures so we had to think fast. Jon cracked me up. I recommend doing this everyday.
Adio slept through the commotion, and then we took pictures of her sleeping. Good thing she is a cat, or that would be totally creepy.

guys, why haven’t we seen you in over a year? and you look super tan in those pictures. jake and i have done that before and i LOVE the way it looks so dramatic. especially with the black and white. you guys are so cute and we love you. happy birthday best-friend jon!
