At the Beach House.

When we didn’t feel like going out, the beach house gave us a really good excuse to stay in.

On Friday night we brought over oysters, took pictures, ate chili, and later babysat while Grant and Julie had a fun date night.

Here are my favorite pictures.

And when we brought out the oysters, man oh man were they a sight to see.

We bought a bushel (imagine a giant pillowcase full) of oysters from a local business for the family to share.  They were delicious.  Jon and I have had lots of oysters since living in Charleston, but these were definitely a first for everyone else.  They are really easy to make too! We just steamed them on the stove. And that’s it.  Then shuck, and add cocktail sauce. And since we don’t eat them raw, they really are delicious. I promise.

Cooper was the first brave child to try one.

Julie was ready to get in on the action.

Then Sammie tried one on a saltine after being promised as much ice-cream as she wanted.

By the end of the night almost everyone had tried an oyster! I was so proud.

Then we let the kids fill up on chili before watching movies and going to bed.

That’s not all! Soon I will post pictures of kayaking and surfing with the kids! Hooray!
