Dance Athens and More Wedding Bells.

Last weekend, I went to Athens, GA  for Dance Athens 2011, and Jon stayed here for Alan and Golden’s wedding.  Jon was actually the official wedding photographer per request; they wanted it to be his wedding gift to them.  Based on his pictures I’d say he did a great job despite it being his first (and probably last) professional photography job! Everyone’s been telling me how beautiful and fun the wedding was, and I’m sad I had to miss it.

But I had a blast in Athens! It was my first time in Athens, and it was so fun to experience it’s college town feel.  It actually reminded me a lot of Asheville, NC with its cute shops and hillside location. I stole the pictures below from some friends on FB since Jon needed the camera for the wedding.  On the left is everyone who came from DanceFX Charleston, and on the right are some people from my group showing off our hip-hip costumes.  We wore sequin high-top sneakers, sports bras on top, and not pictured are the feather earrings.

We performed in the matinee and evening show, and I felt really good about both of our performances.  We were there with sooo many other dancers.  The evening show alone had 40 numbers in it.  It lasted about 3 hours.  Craziness. And backstage was teeny tiny in the humble Morton Theatre.  It was really fun.

After the shows we went out to the clubs and got crazy on the dance floor.  At one point we formed a circle that had the whole club watching.  It was a blast.

This weekend we are celebrating Halloween with both Jon’s class and mine.  We have no idea what we are going to be yet. Any ideas?

P.S. I did awesome on my midterms last week! Hooray!!!!

Kat, I’m so jealous that you’re out PERFORMING! I got excited last week because my ballet teacher told me that she wants me to sign up for her INTERMEDIATE adult ballet class :)

Congrats on those midterms. Keep on kickin’ ass, girl!

And tell Jon we say hi1

That’s awesome Scarlett! It has seriously been so fun to be dancing again! There aren’t a lot of opportunities for adult dancers so I’m glad we’ve both able to find opportunities in our new cities.
