Finals and McClellanvillle.

Finals are over!!!! Hooray! Everyday since Thanksgiving break has been crazy, and it feels so good to finally have a break!  I had 5 cumulative finals, and on top of that had a crazy dance rehearsal schedule so I was really pushing myself to the limit.  Even though it was hard to keep studying every free second I had, it definitely paid off and I did well on my tests.  And now I get almost 3 weeks off! I’m so excited.  I literally did nothing yesterday.  I stayed on the couch with Jon all day watching movies and had a Sopranos marathon.  It felt really good.

But today I am being productive.  I finally cleaned the house, and now I get to blog!

Last weekend our friend Jonathan invited us on a walking tour of McClellanville that he had won at a an auction, so we couldn’t say no to that! McClellanville is a really small town that is 30 minutes outside of Mt. Pleasant, and when I say small, I mean the epitome of “small town.” I think McClellanville only had one main street in the whole place.

Our tour guide had lived in McClellanville most of his life, and had many family members who had lived in the town since the 1800s.  It was really fun because he knew a lot of the history and the gossip.

We started the tour on the dock where we saw this little dolphin.  It was really friendly.  We saw it follow all the boats around and even let this guy pet him!

This dog was so awesome.  You can’t tell from this picture, but the patches on his back were brindle color.  I want a brindle dog so bad! And this one had the perfect temperament.  It was just sitting outside his owner’s home and was so friendly! He also seemed to have the best life because he could do whatever he wanted since he wasn’t locked in.  On our tour we saw him chase a squirrel in one neighbor’s yard, and also have a barking match with another dog down the street.  He was one happy pup.  You might be worrying about this dog wandering the roads, but our guide said that in McClellanville, there was nothing ruder than not giving this pup the right away on the roads.  Even if he was taking a nap in the middle of the road, you wait until he gets up and moves.  You never honk.

Soooo this dog pretty much owns this town.

The tour was so cute.  At every house our guide would tell us about all the people who had live there over the years.  Like about the woman who you would know was back in town because she would line her yard with pots full of fake flowers.

We took a picture with Jonathan at this big old tree, called Deerhead Oak.  Our guide told us it was older than the Angel Oak Tree, but I think he may have been jerking our chains.

After the tour, we went out for a yummy dinner at what I think was the only restaurant in town.  I had the best burger AND they let me switch out my fries for veggies which makes me love any restaurant.

The rest of the weekend we are going to be packing and getting ready for our trip to Utah! Can’t wait!
