Low Country Boil.

On Saturday night we were invited to a low country boil at Brian and Jeanette Wingate’s house.  They live in Mt. Pleasant in a guest house on their grandparent’s property. Their grandpa was governor of South Carolina in the 80s, and was also Secretary of Energy for Ronald Reagan.  Also, their property is goooorgeous.

In case you don’t know what a low country boil is (aka frogmore stew), it includes potatoes, shrimp (oh the shrimp!), sausage, corn on the cob, and lots of old bay! We all brought yummy sides and desserts too.  It was heaven.

We walked down the dock while we were waiting for all of our friends to get there.  It was low tide, and we saw lots of oysters!

Brian and Jeanette’s dog, J.J., joined us.  He was playing with some of the many clam shells, or just stepping on them (which made me cringe!).  The birds had brought all the shells up there.

Marie brought her dog Lola, Graham and Gabby brought Lilly, Amber and J.J. brought Canuck, and Anna brought Nellie. There were lots of dogs running around, wearing themselves out. Jon too.

Graham brought his fire pit, and we enjoyed s’mores after dinner. My favorite.

The next morning, Jon invited everyone over to our house for a tennis tournament. Since I’m so great at tennis (not), I studied for my pathophysiology test instead (which I took today – all done! Yay!).

Golden and Allen brought their new puppy Bernie! This furry little guy only weighs 3 pounds! I was dying. He’s so cute! I was so glad I had taken a study break and walked over to the tennis courts when I saw this little guy running around.

They played doubles, and the final match between Jon/Marie and Graham/Gabby was almost as exciting as Nadal vs. Djokovic!

Just kidding.

And I’m all caught up on my blogging! Tomorrow Jon and I are going our for a fancy dinner at Husk for our 4 year marriage anniversary!! I’m excited to get all dressed up, and go out on a date just us two. We’ve also heard the food is incredible! Can’t wait.
